Updated messages from our Executive Director

November 13, 2020

Greetings Friends,

The Chesapeake Conference Center managed by VenuWorks has been working diligently to keep our staff, guests, and clients safe since reopening on July 1. The safety of our community and guests who attend our events is our number one priority. We are making every effort to follow strict guidelines to ensure that the facility is safe, and that everyone will feel comfortable attending events here.

Effective, Sunday, November 15, 2020, the Governor has reduced the capacity at indoor and outdoor gatherings to 25 people, down from the current limit of 250.

We have limited the occupancy of spaces in all of our room set ups and seating areas to ensure that six feet of physical distance can be maintained between all organizers, staff, volunteers, and attendees who are not members of the same household. All Chesapeake Conference Center employees are required to complete a health questionnaire every day before they enter the building. Each department has been thoroughly trained in health and disinfection programs in best efforts to help to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Please help us help you in keeping our guests, employees, and community safe by observing all guidelines while in our facility.

We are continuously monitoring state and local government policy changes, Chesapeake Health Department recommendations and guidelines, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, government mandates, and public health advancements and will continue to update our protocols and procedures as necessary or appropriate.

Here’s what you can expect when you visit the Center:

  1. Touchless hand sanitizer stations and dispensers throughout the venue including entrances, ballrooms, meeting rooms, restrooms, administration area, kitchen area
  2. Staff wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) Including gloves and masks. Disposable face coverings can be made be available for attendees As everyone entering the Center must wear a mask before they enter
  3. Regular cleaning and disinfecting using EPA -approved disinfectants in all high touch areas of the building. We have also Implemented enhanced disinfection methods using electrostatic application to treat public spaces before, after and in-between events.
  4. Infographics are posted around the facility to remind guests about their safety and the safety of others
  5. Physical distancing when possible

I look forward to personally welcoming you to the Chesapeake Conference Center!

All the best,

Greetings Friends,

Our first concern is always to provide a safe and healthy environment for our guests. With the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we have implemented recommendations issued by the City of Chesapeake Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.

Here are the steps we’re taking to protect our attendees and our valued employees:

In Our Venue:

  • Cleaning commonly used areas more often.
  • Sanitizing restrooms more frequently and restocking with supplies, including soap, paper towels and hand sanitizer.
  • Adding extra hand sanitizer at entrances and throughout the facility.
  • Partnering with our suppliers to replenish high-demand preparedness products.
  • Following best practices for safe food handling, as always.

For Our Employees:

  • Encouraging our employees to closely monitor their health and well-being.
  • Asking our employees to stay home if they, or someone in their household, are sick.
  • Providing our employees with information on steps they can take to prevent the spread of illness and how to recognize COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Providing hand sanitizer and tissues in administrative offices.
  • Suspending business air travel for employees and recommending virtual meetings.

For Our Attendees:

  • Encouraging our attendees to follow the CDC’s suggested hygiene practices to reduce the spread of the virus.
  • Recommending that our attendees also practice safe food handling at home.
  • If you are planning to attend one of our events, and you are experiencing cold or flu symptoms, please stay home.
  • All events through April 5th have been postponed.  Please check our website regularly for updates.

We will continue to follow the lead of our Director of the City of Chesapeake Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, as we strive to provide you with a safe and enjoyable environment for your event.

Thank you for your support!
